In this tutorial, I'll show you how to easily create a weekly email digest of interesting links using Zapier 'Push'.
What you'll need
- Zapier
- 20 minutes
Open Zapier, create a new Zap then add Push by Zapier as the trigger. Install the chrome extesion if you haven't already. Select New Push With Fields. Press continue.
Name your Zap.
Next, press 'Test and Continue'. Now press the Push chrome extension and you should see Testing in orange. Navigate to a news article or blog post and once on the page press the extension again and select the Testing portion that appears, enter a Summary into the empty field and press Send.
Check the data has come through.
Optional - add another custom field to this step and call it Title to send the Title + Summary.
Search and select Digest by Zapier as the action.
Action event is Append Entry and Schedule Digest. Press continue.
Enter a Title. In the Entry field, map the Fields Title - and the URL and the Summary. Add HTML tags if you want some customisation.
Set a schedule in the Frequency field. Press Continue.
Press Test and Review. Check the data.
Turn the zap on.
Navigate to another blog post and trigger the chrome extension by clicking in and selecting your Zap.
Add a Title and Summary. Press send.
Add a third article, repeat the above step.
Now back in Zapier we should expect to see 3 records in our Digest if we run the Zap again (the video shows 4 as we had one loaded in the digest previously before we re ran it). Press Done Editing.
Next, add another Action. Search for Email by Zapier.
Enter your email address, a subject and in the Body add the Current Digest from the Digest step. Add a From Name then check Force Line Break. Press test and continue.
Check the email comes through in a format you like and that's it :)
